Servicing, Maintenance and Repairs
Preventative maintenance and routine servicing of electrical equipment – including care of general mobility equipment such as wheelchairs – will minimise the risk of any potential problems, hopefully avoiding their occurrence and giving you peace of mind that your essential mobility equipment won’t let you down when you most need it.
If your mobility equipment breaks down or suffers damage, we cover all general repairs, including electrical, body work, upholstery and replacement parts.
You may be able to hire or loan equipment from us, subject to availability, while replacement parts are on order but spares can often be supplied from stock (especially consumables), including battery chargers, puncture proof tyres, cushions, electronic controllers, body panels and much more.
- For our existing customers, we log service reminders and will make contact when it is time to arrange a mutually convenient appointment.
- If you would like a Classic Mobility engineer to service an adjustable bed, power hoist, power chair or mobility scooter, contact us to make an appointment.
Independence and Peace of Mind
Why Regular Servicing Matters
Regular servicing helps keep your mobility equipment safe, reliable and performing as it should. Whether you use your mobility scooter every day or only occasionally, routine maintenance can identify signs of wear before they develop into more serious faults.
Much like servicing a car, preventative maintenance helps reduce the risk of unexpected breakdowns, improves safety and can extend the lifespan of your equipment. It also provides reassurance that key components have been professionally checked, giving you confidence every time you use your mobility aid.

If you’re unsure whether your equipment can be serviced, simply get in touch and we’ll be happy to advise.

What Our Service Includes
Every service is designed to ensure your equipment remains safe, comfortable and reliable to use. Depending on the type of equipment, our engineers will carry out a thorough inspection of the key mechanical and electrical components, checking items such as the battery, charging system, brakes, steering, tyres, electrical controls and moving parts. Where appropriate, we’ll also lubricate components, carry out safety checks and ensure everything is operating correctly.
If we identify any worn or damaged parts during the inspection, we’ll discuss the findings with you before carrying out any additional repairs, so you always know exactly what work is recommended.
Typical checks include:

Signs Your Mobility Equipment May Need Attention
Even if your equipment is still working, there are some signs that it may benefit from a professional inspection sooner rather than later. Reduced battery performance, unusual noises, difficulty steering, reduced braking performance, warning lights or visible wear can all indicate that servicing or repairs may be required.
Addressing smaller issues early can often prevent more extensive repairs and help keep your equipment safe to use.

Repairs and Replacement Parts
If your mobility equipment develops a fault or suffers accidental damage, our engineers can diagnose the problem and carry out a wide range of repairs. We can replace many commonly worn or damaged components, including batteries, battery chargers, tyres, cushions, electronic controllers, upholstery and body panels.
Where replacement parts need to be ordered, we’ll keep you informed throughout the process and advise on expected timescales.

Equipment Purchased Elsewhere
In many cases, we can service and repair mobility equipment even if it wasn’t originally purchased from Classic Mobility. If you’re unsure whether we can help with your particular make or model, simply contact our team and we’ll be happy to discuss your requirements.

Collection, Loan Equipment and Appointments
We understand how important your mobility equipment is to your independence. Depending on availability and the nature of the repair, we may be able to offer collection services or temporary loan equipment while replacement parts are being sourced.
All servicing is carried out by appointment, allowing us to ensure we have the time and resources needed to complete a thorough inspection of your equipment.
Your Questions Answered
Frequently Asked Questions
Can’t find the answer you’re looking for?
How often should my mobility scooter be serviced?
We generally recommend a full service once a year for most mobility scooters and powered wheelchairs. If you use your equipment daily or over longer distances, a more frequent check may be beneficial — we’re happy to advise on the right schedule for your equipment.
Can you repair equipment that wasn’t purchased from Classic Mobility?
Yes. In most cases we can service and repair equipment regardless of where it was bought. If you’re unsure whether we cover your make or model, just get in touch and we’ll be happy to help.
What happens during a service?
Our engineer carries out a thorough inspection of the key mechanical and electrical components — including the battery, charging system, brakes, tyres, steering and controls — lubricates moving parts where needed, and completes safety checks and a test drive. We’ll discuss any recommended repairs with you before carrying them out.
How long does a repair take?
This depends on the nature of the repair and whether any replacement parts need to be ordered. Many minor repairs can be completed quickly, and we’ll always keep you informed of expected timescales.
Do you offer reminder services?
Yes. For existing customers we log service reminders and will contact you when it’s time to arrange your next appointment, so your equipment stays safe and reliable.
